15 Oct Fall-ize your home
“The leaves are changing” which means one thing, there will only be a few warm sunny days left before the cooler temperatures appear. You must agree, they sneak up on us fast.
It’s time to start thinking of packing away the summer colors and light textures in your home and to replace them with warm, soft and cozy details to get us through the winter months. Is it safe to say preparing for a form of hibernation. Around this time you are most likely are bored or have grown tired of the things you have had in your home for the past while. Let’s fall-ize our homes a bit and what better time then now before all the holidays hit. These are a few products of my favorite picks for this upcoming Fall plus their links!
This Marrakesh Shag Rug is my favorite rug in our home. It is so soft, which lets face it that should be a requirement of every rug. It goes with so many styles and it brings a bit of culture into the mix. These Moroccan rugs are known for there hand craftsmanship and each rug having its own look. These rugs can easily cost hundreds but Rugs USA is the best place I have found to pick yourself up one.
I have been dreaming of one of these fur throw/rugs ever since I saw them last year at CostCo. So, as soon as they came out this year I grabbed one in ivory. The thing about these and why they are so needful is they automatically bring the heavy texture that you need during the cooler months. I love how you can have it as a rug like in the picture of throw it on the back of a sofa or like me, on our headboard. If I could recommend my top pick on this list it would be this!
Have you heard of the Moroccan Wedding Blankets? Mainly ivory with the hand sewn beaded sequins and loaded details… these can easily cost a fortune. I am so happy that West Elm started carrying a Morrocan Wedding Blanket inspired throw. Get ready to see this pop up everywhere.
I am a firm believer that metallics belong everywhere. Have you checked out H&M’s collection that they started carrying this past year. They have so many perfect options and they really are hands down the best prices out there, perfect for someone who wants to try a new trend. There are a hundred places that I can see this going in my home.
Here is another pick from H&M, the Jacquard Weave Pillow it also comes in black and cream. I thought this pillow belonged on my list because Aztec prints are so huge in our fashion why not try the look in our home as well.
Many of you are familiar with the Anthropologie Capri Blue candle line, I’m sure. They’re normally the scents that are burning in the Anthropologie stores themselves. Lucky for us, they sell these scents so we can enjoy them as well. A few weeks ago I was at the Anthropologie shop in NYC and smelled almost every candle they had (we had some time on our hands) this scent was the best one and I’m still thinking of it til this day. Which I always say is a sign to buckle down and just order it already… “okay, I think I just talked myself into ordering this pretty thing today!”
Another thing I always change out is our pots and house plants at the change of the season.
Some people say they always manage to kill house plants. Well this may make you feel a bit better, not all house plants are created equal. Some plants are really in their prime for a just few months, 4-6 months is what I consider a good life for a house plants. House plants bring that element of life to your home and it can make a space feel finished.
Lastly, a good book need always be near in the colder months. Here is Nichols Sparks New Book The Best of Me! The movie is coming out in a few weeks. I have never read a book before the movie was released. I know this is something that both Jen and Meghan always do and love. So I thought I would give it a try this time. I always get jealous of people saying “Oh the book was so much better then the movie” I have honestly no clue what that feels like 🙂 So I will keep you all posted and maybe if you want you can join me and let’s all read it together! Maybe like a mini-book club!
Happy Wednesday! -Kaylee
